Speaker: Faisal Alam

Speaker, Writer, Organizer, and Activist

Faisal Alam is a globally recognized activist, speaker, and advocate for LGBTQ inclusion, interfaith dialogue, and building understanding across diverse communities. As the founder of the Al-Fatiha Foundation, one of the first organizations to support LGBTQ Muslims worldwide, he has spent more than two decades working at the intersection of identity, faith, and social justice.

A Pioneering Voice at the Intersection of Identity and Faith

Alam founded the Al-Fatiha Foundation in 1998 to address the unique challenges facing LGBTQ Muslims, creating a space for dialogue, support, and community that had never existed before. His work has been recognized internationally and covered by major media outlets including The New York Times, CNN, and the BBC. He brings a deeply personal perspective as a queer Muslim immigrant from Pakistan who has navigated the complexities of multiple identities in America.

Building Bridges Through Understanding and Dialogue

Alam has spoken at universities, corporations, conferences, and faith communities around the world on topics including diversity, equity, and inclusion, LGBTQ awareness, intersectionality, and the power of storytelling to build empathy across difference. His keynotes help organizations move beyond surface-level diversity conversations to foster genuine inclusion, challenge assumptions, and create environments where people of all backgrounds and identities feel valued, seen, and empowered to contribute.
