Bertice Berry

Dr. Bertice Berry is a sociologist, bestselling author, comedian, and educator who has spent more than 25 years inspiring academic and corporate audiences worldwide. Holding a Ph.D. in sociology from Kent State University, she combines rigorous research expertise in race, gender, and social stratification with the lived experience of overcoming poverty as one of seven children raised by a single mother in Wilmington, Delaware.

Award-Winning Entertainer and Media Personality
From 1991 through 1994, Bertice won the national Comedian of the Year Award four consecutive times and was also named Campus Lecturer of the Year and Campus Entertainer of the Year. She hosted and co-executive produced her own nationally syndicated talk show, The Bertice Berry Show, and has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, ABC’s 20/20, and NPR.

Dr. Berry is the author of 14 bestselling books in both fiction and nonfiction, including the inspirational memoir I’m On My Way, But Your Foot Is On My Head. She has donated all book royalties to organizations supporting families in transition and scholarships for underserved communities.
