Dr. Jen Welter is the first female coach in NFL history, a sports psychologist, a gold medal-winning athlete, and a trailblazer who has shattered barriers in one of America’s most male-dominated institutions. When the Arizona Cardinals hired her as a coaching intern in 2015, she opened a door that had been closed for nearly a century.

Shattering Glass Ceilings on the Biggest Stage

Welter’s journey to the NFL sideline began long before her historic coaching appointment. She played professional football for 14 years, earning two gold medals with Team USA and becoming one of the first women to play a non-kicking position in a men’s professional football league. She holds a PhD in psychology and a master’s in sport psychology, combining elite athletic experience with the science of peak performance and mental toughness.
