Jimmy Tingle is an acclaimed stand-up comedian, social commentator, actor, and Harvard Kennedy School graduate whose three-decade career spans comedy clubs, network television, documentary filmmaking, and the global lecture circuit. Known for his intelligent, politically sharp humor, he rose from the legendary Boston comedy boom of the 1980s alongside Denis Leary, Bobcat Goldthwait, and Paula Poundstone.
From Comedy Stages to Harvard
Jimmy earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School in 2010 and was selected to deliver the commencement address to thousands of graduates and their families. He performed two seasons as the featured commentator on CBS’s 60 Minutes II, contributed as a satirist for MSNBC, and has appeared on The Tonight Show, CNN, Larry King, and Late Night with Conan O’Brien.
Theatrical and Entrepreneurial Achievements
Jimmy wrote, starred in, and produced four one-person shows, all directed by Larry Arrick. He founded Jimmy Tingle’s OFF BROADWAY theater in Somerville, Massachusetts, earning Boston Magazine’s Best of Boston awards in both stand-up comedy and best alternative theater. His documentary Jimmy Tingle’s American Dream aired on over 60 PBS affiliates nationwide. He continues to tour the country performing for theaters, colleges, nonprofits, and corporate clients.
