Kari Byron

Kari Byron is best known as the co-host of Discovery Channel’s MythBusters where she spent years blowing things up testing wild theories and proving that science is endlessly entertaining when you approach it with curiosity and creativity. A passionate STEM advocate Byron has dedicated her career to making science accessible and exciting for audiences of all ages especially young women considering careers in technology and engineering. Her high-energy presentations combine science storytelling with real-world lessons on innovation risk-taking and the power of asking what if proving that the best discoveries happen when you’re brave enough to test your assumptions.

Kari Byron is best known as a host on Discovery Channel’s flagship show, Mythbusters and the host of Science Channel’s Head Rush. For over a decade she has been a strong presence in the world of reality0based science television.

Fostering her curious nature, she spent a lifetime acquiring odd skills and interests. After graduating college and traveling the world she decided to settle in San Francisco and pursue a career as a sculptor. Special effects and prop making seemed like a perfect fit.

Trying to break into the field, she got an internship at M5 industries with Jamie Hyneman. Her first day turned out to be the beginning of Mythbusters, and a career in television. Though her dream was to be a working artist somehow handling poop, eating bugs, wiring explosives and scraping chicken guts off the ceiling turned out to be her real dream job.
