Sexism in Politics; Women in Congress

Patti Solis Doyle is a nationally recognized political strategist, presidential campaign manager, and CNN political contributor with more than twenty years of experience at the highest levels of American politics. She speaks on leadership, the rise of women and minorities in politics, campaign strategy, and navigating high-stakes decision-making under pressure.

First Hispanic Woman to Lead a Presidential Campaign
As campaign manager of Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential bid from January 2007 through February 2008, Solis Doyle became the first Hispanic woman to manage a presidential campaign in American history. She later joined the Obama for America campaign as chief of staff for Vice Presidential operations, building a national team and managing day-to-day operations for VP nominee Joe Biden. During the 2012 election, she served as an advisor to the Obama-Biden campaign.

Two Decades of Presidential Campaign Experience
Solis Doyle began her career on Richard Daley’s Chicago mayoral campaign and was among the first to join Bill Clinton’s 1992 longshot presidential bid. She served as a senior advisor to Hillary Clinton through two White House terms, chief of staff for Clinton’s first Senate campaign, and managed her 2006 re-election. Named one of America’s “100 Most Influential Hispanics” by Hispanic Business Magazine, she also received the “Latinas of Excellence Award” and the “Siempre Inspiran” award from Siempre Mujer magazine.

She is President of Solis Strategies, a communications firm, and holds a B.A. in Communication from Northwestern University.

Politics in the Trump Era

In 2016, Donald Trump disrupted the Republican primary, stunned Democrats in the general election, and continues to defy the rules from the White House.

Our national politics have changed, and they may be broken, but some of the rules still work. All politics is local. Good candidates can flip a district (and defy their Party). Money still matters more than it should. Campaigns reveal each candidate’s true nature. And the media, “fake” or legitimate, can’t help but influence everything it covers.

Patti Solis Doyle came up in politics in the early 90s, starting in Chicago City Hall. She worked on Bill Clinton’s longshot race for President, served an historic First Lady, ran Hillary’s campaigns for senate and president, then helped elect Barack Obama. She’s watched the Trump campaign, presidency, and scandal unfold from her seat in the broadcast booth at CNN.

The 2020 Presidential Campaign

Republicans control the White House and the Senate. Democrats control the House. What drove November’s Blue Wave – and how could a divisive primary undermine Democrats’ enthusiasm? With President Trump stuck at 40% public approval, can two Supreme Court picks and a corporate tax cut protect him from a primary challenge? Will 20+ Dem candidates in a primary election hurt or help the eventual nominee in the general election?

Patti Solis Doyle is a Democratic political operative, presidential campaign manager, and former staffer to Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden. Patti will explain what the mid-term results, growing polarization, “fake news,” primary politics, a slowing economy, and the electoral college could mean for the 2020 campaign. If you thought the 2016 was the most remarkable Presidential election of your lifetime; you ain’t seen nothing yet.

Politics & the #MeToo Movement

The #MeToo movement has toppled CEOs, news anchors, studio heads, and many politicians. It has also changed attitudes, particularly for younger Americans. Like other social justice movements, #MeToo is the result of decades of hard work. What’s next for the movement? What do we need to do to ensure women are heard, trusted, and protected? Will #MeToo lead to a woman elected President?

Patti Solis Doyle is a Democratic political operative, presidential campaign manager, and former staffer to Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden. She worked in the Clinton White House thru Bill Clinton’s Impeachment and worked to elect his wife President. She offers a unique perspective on what role the #MeToo movement plays in today’s politics.

Sexism in Politics; Women in Congress

Hillary Clinton made history by becoming the first woman to win a major party’s nomination for the Presidency. She was the most qualified, most experienced ever to run for the Presidency. She ran against the most unqualified, most inexperienced person (who happened to be a man) ever to run for the Presidency. The man won. Yes, Hillary was a flawed candidate but sexism played a role in her loss.

In 2018 more women than ever before were elected to congress.

Gender affects every campaign, every issue, every legislative battle.
