Rita Moreno is an iconic actress, singer, and dancer whose career spans more than seven decades. She is one of the few performers in history to achieve EGOT status, winning an Oscar, Emmy, Tony, and Grammy. She speaks on resilience, breaking barriers, Hispanic heritage, and living life to the fullest, drawing from a trailblazing journey that took her from a small town in Puerto Rico to the pinnacle of show business.

Award-Winning Career
Moreno won the Academy Award for her unforgettable role as Anita in West Side Story, the Tony for The Ritz, two Emmys for The Muppet Show and The Rockford Files, and a Grammy for The Electric Company Album. She has appeared in more than 40 feature films and starred in the critically acclaimed Netflix series One Day at a Time. Her first ever all-Spanish album, Una Vez Mas, was produced by Emilio Estefan and her memoir Rita Moreno: A Memoir became a New York Times bestseller.

Honors & Legacy
Moreno has received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President George W. Bush, the National Medal of Arts from President Barack Obama, the Kennedy Center Honor, the Peabody Award, and the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award. The documentary Rita Moreno: Just a Girl Who Decided to Go for It debuted at Sundance Film Festival and aired on PBS.

Background
Born Rosa Dolores Alverio in Humacao, Puerto Rico, Moreno moved to New York at age five, began dance lessons at six, and made her Broadway debut at thirteen. She is also a dedicated activist supporting causes including racial equality, education, and diabetes awareness.
