Stacy Allison is the first American woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest and a respected entrepreneur who brings hard-won mountain wisdom to corporate audiences worldwide. On September 29, 1988, after 29 days on the mountain, she stood atop the world’s highest peak at 29,028 feet as part of the Northwest American Everest Expedition. She is also the author of two books and president of Stacy Allison General Contracting.
Mountaineering Milestones
Stacy began major alpine climbing at age 21 and achieved rapid success, reaching the top of Alaska’s Mt. McKinley, the highest point in North America, and completing the first successful women’s ascent of Nepal’s Ama Dablam at 22,495 feet. Her first Everest attempt in 1987 was thwarted by the worst storm in forty years, trapping her team at 23,500 feet for five days. She returned the following year and made history. She then went on to lead a successful expedition to K2, the world’s second highest and most technically challenging peak.

Beyond the Limits: Lessons from Everest
Mt. Everest is one of the most unforgiving environments on Earth and decisions don’t get much starker. That’s why mountains, though seemingly a planet apart from the world of business, are a rich source of insights for associates, managers and executives alike. More than just symbols of upward strivings, mountains are high-altitude crucibles for leadership, team dynamics, risk-taking, vision, and change.
Even though you and your associates may not experience arctic temperatures, hurricane force winds, or seemingly bottomless crevasses, you do face an increasingly competitive marketplace, a more dynamic and demanding customer base, and the challenge of consistently delivering results while balancing profitability and growth. Running a successful organization is like climbing a mountain. Just like an expedition, you must forge an inspiring vision, build an accomplished team, overcome obstacles and stay focused, to consistently be your best and stay on top. Each team member’s leadership, teamwork and motivation play critical roles in this success.
Stacy combines her business acumen and her spirit for adventure to show her audiences how to thrive in their organizations through courage, leadership, vision, teamwork, risk taking, and personal accountability. Stacy’s high content, personalized, dynamic presentation will encourage and inspire you to take a visionary look at opportunities and move beyond your limits. The future will never look the same!
